Default Pianos

I have to say.

I have NI and Ivory and UVI (for some reason), but after the 8 day upgrade process to Sierra (testing) nothing beats the EW pianos.

Not even close. EW has the resonance that is the closest to a real piano.

So if you are feeling your piano sound is dull, this is the solution.

I like player and room down a little. No GUI for level so its just past the first couple of markers

Piano Bos 88 full player plus room. Seriously nothing compares

I don't own EW Pianos, but my go-to piano is still the good ol' Steinway B.

True ... the Boesendorfer (with LA piano hall reverb) is my go to piano, always works. When it comes to sampling, I guess size matters.

Absolutely right!!! i have ever sound compared playing Pianos Steinway head to head playing with real Steinway piano grand concert, amazingly same sound character. Pianos is amazing product even now emerge new sample from other competitor, Pianos still the best IMO.

I almost didn't install PLAY on my latest reOS build up. But so many things have gotten better I figured I would give it a go.

Glad I did. I have NI Ulti and those piano's don't cut it and Ivory is a close second but the warmth of Platinum, kind of reminds me of the old giga piano even though it won't hold a candle to anything now.

Play seems to really work well now. I know there were growing pains back when it was being developed and for a few versions. I think it was ahead of the hardware technology.

Bos 88 Stage and Room (about 3 1/2 ticks down) with the EW hall sounds fantastic.

When I first played with the Bechstein, I thought I had visited Heaven! Yamaha pianos in real life sound the same no matter how gently you press the keys, just louder or softer. I have not played a real Bechstein piano, but this is the first piano VST instrument I have played that has a huge range of expression at the softer levels and actually sounds different the harder you play it.

What controller keyboards are you using? I always find mine (korg m388 and komplete kontrol s61 - but I expected this to be not so good) lacking when trying to PLAY an expressive/emotive piece into the DAW.

(Compared to playing the same piece on my nothing-special-at-all acoustic upright piano downstairs)

I have a Yamaha P105. Unfortunately no mod wheel.

It might be because of semi weighted vs weighted keyboards. I find that semi is great with fast stuff and perc but weighted is really needed for emotive things like piano and things that need a "touch"

2nd, how do you like the NI S61. Waiting to find out if they are going to do a Mk2 of the 88.
