Default PLAY Software for Linux

Dear PLAY developers,

I would like to ask for development of Linux version of PLAY software. It would be great new feature to use all the EASTWEST, Quantum Leap, and Soundsonline stuff under this open-source OS.

There are already great DAWs supporting VST, AU etc.:

Bitwig https://www.bitwig.com/

And a lot of open-source SW

Ardour https://ardour.org/
Audacity http://www.audacityteam.org/
MusE http://www.muse-sequencer.org/

I would love to see PLAY as a native VST under Linux (as in, not requiring Wine to run). Linux is sorely lacking in decent sample libraries since the major producers will not release on Linux, which is more and more becoming a viable platform for multimedia production (especially now that commercial DAWs like Bitwig and Mixbus are available for Linux). The only catch is I don't think iLok makes drivers for Linux (I think the only dongle with Linux drivers is Sentinel (Gemalto), and that's a pretty major hurdle... although I guess for the Cloud version no iLok is required (I don't know, I don't use the Cloud libaries)

No physical iLok is required. The iLok software is, however, still needed.

idragosani: I think, that iLok SW is needed for Composer Cloud.

General question:
Is existence of iLok SW on Linux limited somehow?

E.g. Linux itself is open-source. And protecting SW code may has to be closed from the principle.

Or it's only about to program it?

Maybe some pressure to iLok is needed from plug-in manufacturers as EWQL, Waves, and Linux DAW SW developers.

As far as I know, it doesn't exist. Pace does not support Linux as they feel there is no market on Linux making it worth their effort. It's a vicious cycle. Software manufacturers state they won't support Linux because there's no market, but the reason there is no market is because the manufacturers won't support the platform.

In the end, I just run Windows on one machine so I can host my samplers and do all of the sequencing, recording and mixing on Linux (using MIDI over ethernet for communication between the two machines).
