Default My keyboard plays all the instruments in the PLAY mixer

Hi,

I have installed 5 EastWest instruments on a single track using the PLAY mixer.

When I play a key on the on-screen piano keyboard that comes with PLAY, only the instrument that is selected in the mixer sounds.

However, when I play a key on my physical keyboard, all 5 instruments sound, no matter which one is selected in the mixer.

How can I make only the selected instrument sound when I play my physical keyboard?

Sounds like each of the instruments is on the same midi channel or the omni.
Set them to different midi channels, then set the keyboard to the same midi channel as the one you want to play

Thx, figured it out in the mean time. Is there any way to automate on the track switches between these channels, so that in play-back you can hear the different instruments after each other on the same track?

You have to put each instrument on a separate channel or use an articulation switching software.

Assuming you're playing the instruments off a MIDI track in a DAW, you could make as many duplicates of your MIDI track as you have instruments, then direct the MIDI output of each MIDI track to the respective instrument you want it to play. Then, while your DAW plays back, just solo each MIDI track one at a time to hear how the part sounds with the different instruments. Not sure of a way to automate that, though.

You can also use expression maps if you're running a later version of Cubase.
