Default Hollywood viola

Why isn't there any Hollywood solo viola?

Cue incoming Viola jokes.

The harp, violin and cello are the most widely used solo instruments in
orchestral composition. I think that's why there was this sort of limitation.

There is a Solo Viola in the Symphonic Orchestra library.

That's actually a very good question ... I suggested a while ago to add this to the EW Hollywood series.

The viola is a very expressive instrument, a perfect fit between the violins and celli / DB, and standard for any string quartet. The violas section of Hollywood Strings is brilliant if you want to layer tracks in a beautiful, natural way.

That said, I'm not sure whether EW has any plans for a solo viola. There's one in SO.

I really like the solo strings from Embertone.

I like to combine them with the Hollywood Orchestra instruments.

But yeah, I like the ones you mentioned, too. [German mode]Grüße nach Mainz![/German mode])

I just realised I edited my post and left a "but" in there that doesn't make a lot of sense. What I meant was: Embertone's intimate strings go very well with Hollywood Orchestra, as you rightly said. I love combining HS basses and Embertone's solo bass. Gives it that extra close edge.

What's the difference between a pizza and a violist? A pizza can feed a family of four.

sorry, it had to be one
