Default Berliner Philharmoniker - Digital Concert Hall (OT)

Fyi, for anyone who would like a musical distraction in these troubling times, the Berliner Philharmoniker now offers free access to its “Digital Concert Hall”. https://www.digitalconcerthall.com/en/home See “redeem voucher”. I don't know if this is going to be forever, probably not, but at least as long as the Coronavirus is wreaking havoc around the globe and committing everyone to their homes.

The Digital Concert Hall is a website with hundreds of high definition video / audio recordings of concerts as well interviews and music related documentaries, spanning everything from Bach / Mozart / Beethoven through the romantic era (Bruckner, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Wagner) to contemporary classical music.

The Berliner Philharmoniker is one of the world’s greatest orchestras and the quality of the performances and the recordings are outstanding. The archive is huge, going all the way back to the legendary Von Karajan recording (starting in black and white), to Simon Rattle (who is now with the LSO) to the current conductor, the Russian Kirill Petrenko. They also have many guest performance with superstars like Hillary Hahn, etc., and family oriented programs.

Very highly recommended.

For anyone wondering before they sign up, the voucher gives you a free 30-day ticket, and the site does tell you once you redeem it. We don’t know if that will be extended at some point, of course.

The subscription is usually €14.90 per month; there’s also a 12-month ticket available for €149.00.
