Default QL Spaces (About Bus Track)

Hello, I am a new comer to East West QL Spaces. I'm using EW CCC2, so here, I will focus on Hollywood Strings&Brass and its proper Reverb.

I am now working with a piece for full orchestra, being a little confused about the QL Spaces Plug-in.

Woodwind Part (Track 1: Piccolo, Track 2: Flute, Track 3: Oboe)

Brass Part (Track 9: French Horn I&II, Track 10: French Horn III&IV)

Percussion Part

Strings Part

Question 1:
Should I send each track to the Bus Track plug with QL Space or I add the QL Spaces to my Master Track is better?

Question 2:
Which one of the QL Spaces' Reverbs is more realistic?

Any suggestion?
Thank you. )

Hey, it depends what you want to achieve - sometime you might use it as insert and apply to all instruments, but most of the time you might want to use it as send FX so you can adjust particular reverbs with instruments.

Even if you dont add reverb in play, I think you can hear theres some already and its different with diff instruments, so sends might be a good idea, but depends how it sounds to you probably.

Theres a thread about reverbs that Nick Pheonix uses somtimes - i think it was ACME or sth true stereo reverb for diff instrument groups, but you should experiment and try to find the one you like.

WIth reverbs theres a tip to cutoff low HZ (up to 200) to clean up your mix - you can do it within Spaces or use separate EQ

NOTE: Im no pro, its just what I gathered from the forums and implemented in my works :-D

It depends what you are setting out to achieve.

Using a pan utility or a plug-in which lets you an instruments natural position can help you plan how much reverb to send. Either way, you will have to experiment with it until sounds right.

If for example, you have a 48dB (-24db to 24dB) mixing space with 0dB being unity gain - your central point. Then you could work out your virtual room distance from that. However since we are talking about Convolution reverberation a lot of this thought has been removed.

I tend using a value of between -20dB and -15dB on reverb send values. Make sure you bypass the volume of dry signal from the instance of Spaces as well.

Wow, thanks for all of your patient replies.

To focus on the topic more, I post the sample here:

My problem is that I find my music lacks of power, for example, each instrument gets wet at some degree and start to blend into each other...
When playing one of the Hollywood Strings, I feel it's prey beautiful and realistic, but after I finish the whole piece, all the sounds just get wet and soft...

I'm now selecting "Stage Mic" for all the samples. Should I change to "Close Mic" ?

The whole idea of the different microphones is so you customise the blend of the sound. They won't much be as much reflections because of their proximity and the recording stage, however it will allow you shape the sound of each instrument better.

The bass frequency are blend or in serious reflections...Can you give me some tips for this piece?

Thanks a lot!

A simple fix would be to use a 200Hz Filter EQ Roll-Off to soften the rumble and perhaps some cut at 10Khz to reduce any unwanted sibilance in the reverb effect.
