After doing so many exercices of orchestration for solo strings and solo woodwinds, principally fron the book by richad wagner, and some of the book by samuel adler I would like to know how to go on.
Which combination of instruments should I work on to work progressively? Would you reccomend any special score to study? I mean not of entire orchestra, but of usual combination of instruments I appreciate your help |

Check out http://alexanderpublishing.com/
I found his Professional Orchestration series quite useful.

Thank you, LMW,
That's the same as the one of Joseph Wagner. After doing exercise for solo Strings and solo Woodwinds I find no exercises for solo Brass. But today I've found in the same book the same exercises for Full Orchestra. Maybe the only way now is going directly to practice those. Last edited by admin; 04-02-2018 at 02:01 PM. |

If you want individual feedback on your work, you can join Patreon for a few dollars per month, and get individualized feedback from Thomas on your work. http://orchestrationonline.com/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/278568792265515/ And if you are interested in film orchestration, I can also warmly recommend the website and blogs by Tim Davies, a top notch LA orchestrator, and an excellent composer in his own right. [check out Trollhunters on Netflix - he wrote all the original music, for several seasons, only the main theme from Alexandre Desplat] http://www.timusic.net/debreved/ |
