Question Hollywood Brass Silver with Reaper

I started to use Hollywood Brass Silver Edition to get a more realistic sound of brass instruments.
I do arrangements for the brass choir of our church using MuseScore. The exported MIDI file will be imported into Reaper and a MP3 will be created.
In Reaper I added Play5 as a virtual instrument and with Play5 also the MIDI controller to control the expression and the sound using the Mod Wheel and Expression controls. This is giving me satisfactory brass sounds for my setup using the sus lt samples for 2 solo trumpets (ch1, ch2), a solo trombone (ch3) and a solo tuba (ch4).
However, when I'm using the same setup but with the samples with accent, it seems that the accent and the release could not be modified using the Mod Wheel and the Expression control. When I put Mod Wheel and Expression to minimum, I still can hear the accent and release at a normal volume.
Is there anything I'm missing? Any ideas appreciated.

You mean any of these? I have Diamond, but they work fine for me - velocity controls the attack / dynamic, but expression lowers the overall volume, all the way to zero.

Thanks Peter for your reply.

Well, I thought, that the Mod Wheel control would impact the entire sample including attack. I set the max velocity of each instrument to a value around 40. This results in a satisfactory sound for my purposes.
