Default MOD SPEED brass timbre

Hello!

I was wondering if there's a way to automate the timbre of the brass in the MOD SPEED patches. In the sustain patches, you can use the mod cc1 to automate the timbre of the brass, however, in the MOD SPEED patches, CC1 controls the length of the notes. I'm aware the velocity controls how hard the notes are played, but when I increase the CC1 all the way it plays sustained notes. I want to be able to automate the timbre these sustained notes.
Is that possible?

I've read the manual and asked other users, but haven't gotten a definitive answer.

Hope I made sense,

Thanks in advance!

The only way to do that would be to use individual patches for each articulation as opposed to the mod speed patch - so

stacc
staccatissimo
marc short
marc long

I think there are mod wheel controlled patches for each of them but I'm not at my DAW to check.

Is there really no way to do it in the MOD speed patch? I really like using it because it saves having to load up all the separate patches.
