Louis Marlowe is on a distinguished road
Default The Landing at Dollet

This is an attempt to transcribe/re-orchestrate one of the pieces of music from Nobuo Uematsu's score of Final Fantasy VIII that (sadly, I think) didn't get made for the Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec orchestral album. Also gave me a good opportunity to take Hollywood Orchestra Diamond for a spin.

Click here for the SoundCloud link

Every instrument from Hollywood Orchestra was loaded with the 'Main' mic position exclusively, then each section (i.e. Woodwind, Brass, Strings, Percussion) had individual reverb applied. The piano is the C. Bechstein D280 from QL Pianos, with a blend of player and room mics.

I have basically little to no experience with orchestral mixing, so I'd gladly take a couple of tips if there's anything that sounds particularly bad. The transcription isn't totally exact, but I don't think I've wrecked Nobuo's original music.
