Default New sound card

Hi, everyone.
I have some question regarding audio interface
for pc and mac.

I need some help.

I am using TC Electronic Impact Twin firewire
sound card, but my soundcard has a defect
in Main output (loose connection), beside
that, driver issues with windows causing
BSOD, etc....

Actually i can still use my Impact twin,
most functions on this soundcard works,
but i really want to get rid of firewire connection, too many problems!

I am considering buying a usb based soundcard
with dsp fx onboard.

I am thinking about buying RME babyface pro
or Universal Audio or maybe Apogee!

Focusrite is not good enough, neither is
Behringer or M-audio or Ik Multimedia.

I want prestine supert DSP fx and crystal
clear high quality souncard with stable driver.

The soundcard should have these specs:

4 in / out
onboard dsp with reverb etc. (vst support!).
usb 2/3 based soundcard
Mic / guitar with preamps.
software driven mixer.
phantom 48v mic.
Maybe onboard dsp desser and compressor, just like
Impact twin.

I am thinking about buying Steinberg UR44, my budget can only handle buying UR44 price range, atleast for now.
If i buy UR44, i hope this soundcard has better sound quality than Impact and better dsp fx etc.

I need a soundcard which has hi quality
crystal clear playback of audio.

I could go for Thunderbolt3, but my
mac mini 2012 (core i5)is to old, and my pc is allso to old (core i7 2600k, 3.6ghz).
That means, i have to invest , buy a new
pc and a mac, which will cost more than
2000$, i just dont have that kind of
money now.
Allso, very important, i need a soundcard that can handle many virtual vst instrument, like Halion 6, Omnisphere , East West Hollywood string with very low latency.

I need a soundcard that can handle recording two inputs realtime while playback many audio / midi track same time!

Should i buy Steinberg UR44 / UR44C ??

Or is Steinberg not good enough?.

The RME Babyface Pro is roughly two times the price of the UR44.

That being said, from the list you gave, I've only ever used the RME Babyface Pro
and the UR22 (less ports than the UR44). I didn't notice any difference when
using those two.

Thanks, LMW.
I see that UR44C, has the USB 3.1 and i think USB normal standard port, not USB-C port.
My PC only has USB 3.1 not USB-C.
My Mac mini has only USB 2.0.
I hope UR44C will work perfect both on my
win7 64bit PC and Mac (high sierra), and in Cubase element 8 64bit, if so, i will properly buy
my Steinberg UR44C in Januar.
There is no need to buy a soundcard costing 1000$.

You probably mean USB A port type (here on the far left)? Those are then differentiated to USB 2 / 3.0 / 3.1 speeds.

Indeed, that's my reason for going with the UR series. While there's probably a small difference, I'm honestly incapable of noticing the difference in the audio output.

Yes, USB type A.
Can the Steinberg UR44C connect to
a USB A type, which i have on my computer, provided i have the USB-C to usb type a cable ?

I saw on Steinberg website, there is support for win7 64bit drivers.
The great thing with this soundcard is, you can connect it to Ipad pro, which i have, with the
"CC" mode, i guess the CC stands for Class Compliant mode ?, anyway
i think i will go for this soundcard.
I dont know if its possible to swith on / off the CC button, while the UR44C is turned on,
hopefully it wont damagde the soundcard ?.
Does the UR44C when using it for vst instrument, like hollywood string, omnisphere etc,
sound huge ?.
I know my Impact twin sound D/ A , converters sounds big and warm.
I know people arguing about soundcard converter and it dosent matter if you use a 50-100 buck soundcard or a 1000 buck
soundcard , you wont hear the difference, due to fact that the software does all
sound algorithm in order to sound great!
No it dosent , complety untrue, i have tried cheap soundcard and expensive software from
east west , like hollywood string does indeed sound much much better when
using a decent semi pro / pro soundcard!.

Hello Henrikh,

please contact Steinberg support for the questions concerning their hardware. Thanks.
https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-us

I'd just like to point out that while a good soundcard can help,
your overall system components will eventually inhibit the amount
of samples which you can stream simultaneously.

Cheers.

thank you again LMW.
I got enough information, thanks to you, etc.
No more question.
Now there is only one thing to do, that is to
buy UR44C soundcard.

I am sorry LMW, related to sound comparison RME / UR44, etc.
I was comparing to just cheap sound card, like the ones that
cost around 50$, to soundcard costing around 100$ or more.
It has nothing to do with your post,
Because i was asking those same question in other forum / websites, and some people was
telling me, buying cheap soundcards etc, ok enough with that.
I do apologize LMW.
