I have plenty of advice.

Slave computer:
1) 16gb of ram will be chewed up very fast. 32gb is better if you are going with a bigger template.
2) SSDs make your computer boot faster and programs run faster. This is useless for a slave that has mechanical drives. If you have spent $ on the slave s pend the $ and do it properly. At the very least you will want a SSD for Hollywood libraries.

In terms of networking - you will need a VST host. Buy Vienne Ensemble Pro. Install the software on the appropriate computer, follow the setup instruction an it work. A great piece of software.

I also use VNC to control my slave conputer from the master.
