Default Tips for getting strings to sound good?

All the EW samples sound great - including clarinet! I'm an orchestral clarinettist so that's high praise. The exception is the strings which sound like crap I don't think that's EW's fault, it's the strings which are scratchy instruments, difficult to record and even more difficult to sample.

The exception is the Solo Violin library which sounds glorious. String ensembles are much harder to sound good either in recording or sample (and live too oftentimes). Anyhow, any workflow or tips on getting these instruments tamed?

Hint to EastWest - put out a String Ensemble library, with just a few musicians (4 violins or something). I bet it will naturally sound loads better and be easy to work with. I don't have to have a huge string section because it's not needed with samples, since we control the volume. The only reason we have a lot in an orchestra is to get them louder - not because they sound better with a big group.
